Betrayed By Society was a great read! I was recently betrayed by my ex-partner, and kept blaming myself for not being a good enough girlfriend and failing him on a sexual level. Your article made me realise that what he did was wrong and that I shouldn't absolve him of blame just because I'm used to pinning all responsibility for things that go wrong on myself. So thank you! :)

I must confess that you're doing a really great job with womenselfesteem.com.
I read a couple of stories there and they really touched the core of my heart.
I also have a similar work to yours that I'm starting but I face the challenge of culture. I'm in Nigeria and we have a culture that hardly goes public when abuses occur, especially to women. This way, it becomes difficult to get people to tell their stories.
After going through your website, I wondered if you could give me the permission to use some of the stories on your website on mine, giving proper credit to you. I'm thinking that this might encourage women to come forward and tell their stories and hopefully, we'll help or save a soul.
I'd love to know what your thoughts are on this proposal. Hope to hear from you soon.
God bless

Hi Dorothy, I would like to thank you for your site Women's Self Esteem. I am glad you are committed to helping women gain or regain self esteem. I was in an abusive relationship for over 12 years and always talked negatively about myself and this site has helped me correct my thinking. May God richly bless you!

I am starting a website where I interview romance authors. I have always loved the genre and it has gotten me through some tough times and given me the strength to grow. It is hard as a woman who has always had low self esteem to finish a project this large, when I have always let my bad self image and fear sabotage me in the past. I am fighting it today to keep moving forward. This site really inspires me and gives me an added boost that I can do this and I am not the only one who struggles everyday.
Thank you,
Terry Kate

Dear Dorothy,
Thanks so much for your response.
You have been blessed with a gift of helping those in similar plights to heal and not feel so alone and forsaken. It is a true calling and who better to admire than you. Through your plights you have reached out to help others through awareness. You may never know the full impact you have on lives. I wish you happiness and well-being. You deserve it.

I am truley thankful for the article i have 3 children and have been going through hell and back for the past 4years with one of my children, i have never read anything that has made me feel more normal as i did when i read this. I left home to get away from control, i fell into another situation where abuse happened, i lived with an abuser for 14years and ended it or so i thought untill my own child started the abuse. This article and website has made me feel im not abnormal or a bad parent just a woman who has put upwith it from the parents and men in my life and the only people i have only ever truly loved 3 beautiful girls in my life 100% and one of them my own daughter can hurt me like this but there is light at the end of the tunnel, articles like these and websites like this. THANK YOU SO MUCH! From a woman who actually feels less of a failure and a lot more normal. Keep up the amazing work!!!!

I am a positive woman who have been to hell and back and if not for sell esteem and the Lord's esteem i would be a negative person to day. I have also taken the test, not surprise at the results, there were a few questions i answered not to the point because i felt there could be 2 answers to that question.I enjoyed this site very much.PS. In the case of the mirror question, I have the perfect one which says how beautiful I am. All the time..

Good looking well organized site. Addressing an issue which is so important in a woman's life. Well written and well 'felt'. It is vital that we love ourselves (not in a narcissistic way) for who we are and not what the world forces us to be.Tons of really interesting info here, your site seems like a 'trawl' site where one can spend a lot of time. Liked the little icon which went with my mouse movements. LoCTY!.

Heya Dorothy. This site is definitely "pretty in pink" i really like the layout . its really sharp and bright. Content, well what an array of just absolute wonderful content and options. I'm gonna give you a very special thumbs up on including addiction and eating disorders. I know its rare in men but I used to have a problem with anorexia and I also am an addict... almost 2 years sober now :) so yeah that struck me in particular all the types of positive help your site offers. I will definitely recommend it in the future..

For every women that has hung around the forum throughout the year and has spent a lot of time going through their issues one step at a time, then turning around and spreading their new inner strength to help other women find their self-esteem, I commend you.
The amount of courage that it takes to bring a women's self-esteem up even a notch is amazing and very hard to find.
I am more amazed at how all the women came into my site feeling like a little lost bird and now for most of them that have remained active, they are soaring with the big birds, full of life and true women's self-esteem.
Keep it going Ladies and never, ever let anyone bring you down!!
ONWARD & UPWARDS is really the only way to a higher women's self-esteem!

Good Morning!
I was thinking of all the things that we have been through in the past year. :o Look at us......We have had major surgeries, major traumas, major weight issues, (except for D who needs to gain a pound or two!) LOL, major depressive and bi-polar issues, fear of cameras, kids leaving home, kids returning home, major financial and relationship issues and not to forget the hell the weather gave Linda and D. :'(
Have you seen us! We look so different! We look great! That must mean that we are secretly seeing a plastic surgeon or that we are feeling better about ourselves!!!!! How cool is that! 8-)
Who knew GOD worked in cyberspace?????!!!!!!!! ;)
Love you all :-*

It is with a glad heart that I write to you this time. For the longest time I walked around with my head down, always looking at my feet and never paying attention to anything that was happening around me. Thanks to you, I have finally started to look up and look past the end of my nose. I discovered that there was someone patiently waiting for me to notice her, a very quiet person with a very tiny ego. Behind the ego is a remarkable person who has a very strong character and a complex life. I want to climb the highest mountain and yell at the top of my lungs. DorothyL@womensselfesteem is the greatest! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and from the center of my very soul. You have shown me the light, even though it was in front of me the entire time. On a different note, I wish you could change the name from womenselfesteem to menandwomensselfesteem. I hesitated writing you in the beginning because of it. Thank you once again.

The refrain I seem to read in here often goes something like this...'For the first time in my life I feel understood and accepted. I don't feel alone anymore.' That, as far as I'm concerned is one of the biggest miracles I've ever been privileged to witness in my life. (Apart from the births of my children and grandchildren, it's the ONLY one!) I believe WSE is a huge force for global change and it's all about giving the 'feminine' back to women. And I mean feminine in its fullest, most glorious sense...that which you witness in here. The sharing, love, wisdom, support and acceptance that is every woman's gift and birthright! As Dorothy likes to remind us often, we have strength in numbers. Ain't that the truth!
Kudos to you. And much love,

Hi to all You Beautiful Ladies ;D.
I know I have only been here a couple of weeks, but I would just like to take this moment to thank you all for being there for me when I needed you most.
Alot of people have no idea about my past. But it is my family that is suffering with all that I'm going through and what I'm putting them through.
My husband came out last night and said to me that is is starting to see the old me again! not all the time but just on the odd occasion. He also said that I seem to be getting more and more happier everyday which is making him feel better as when I am having a hard time or bad day so is he.
So thanks to you all because if it wasn't for all you my husband would not be seeing that old me slowly coming back.
And a special thanks to you D! you are the one who started this site and you should be proud of all these wonderful women that you have and are helping. :-*
Well done! kisses and huggies to you all.

In reference to almost every article in this website. I thank you for having these available. All my internet research narrows down to these articles. Every time I begin to think that I am the only one that has feelings anymore, I read these articles and reassure myself again. Every time I become emotionally weak I come here for your support. Thanks again for saving my relationship with my fiance.

You are a terrific woman and I am so glad you have this web site. You have helped me grow so much. And now I love life with every breath and just feel like I shine with being who I am. Thank you for your web site. It has made a tremendous impact on my life.
Right now I am one a "manic high" some would call it. I just call it happy to be alive and happy to know you. And I am so happy that you let me share my feelings.. you have taken kindly to me with all the different view points that I go though.
You are right about self esteem .. and it being soooo important to women.
For a while I , as a women , have been told to be nice, help everyone and of course to be happy. But to be happy is not a commanding word.. it is a state of being.
I will always be reading your articles..and find that going over them again and again..helps me learn what you are trying to teach us. It is a spiritual part.. the part about being happy.. a feeling about oneself.. You are showing all of us on your web site how to be happy with OURSELVES with self esteem.
Thank you ..

Some of us LIKE to do research and if you get short on time or stuck..please get with us. We would love to help. There are many of us with health issues and bouts of depression for one reason or another. I have found that while no one can take my physical pain away...being here around others gives me enough support to carry on and then some. When I first found this website 2 yrs ago I was looking for a support group that I did not have to travel to as sometimes driving isn't an option for me. Sometimes I needed support at night and we have no local support groups that I actually fit in. I have grown so much in the past 2 yrs...have gone from not even registering as a person on the self-esteem scale to being a 5-6 most days and even higher on some. All you shy ladies come on in and let us get to know you. We talk about many issues and sometimes nothing. We laugh a lot , cry some but are mostly just here to say hey, how are you (and mean it) and hang out! We all have opinions on issues that we are facing but you will find support in all of us. We will not judge or criticize you. So, get in here..let us get to know you and get to know us. Help us with our issues and vice -versa. Blessings to you all, Val

Hello My Friends,
Just wanted to let you know that D's blogs for August and September are incredibly enlightening and somewhat exciting! 8-)
Take a peek if you get the chance.
I have always been a creature of habit. Routine has always been my saving grace!!!! ::)
Now for somethings routine & structure are a definite must. Especially with kids , school& regular everyday things that have to be done.
Now I am 43 yrs old and I am just beginning to spread my wings and enjoy changes in my life. I enjoy time alone (for those who know me....YES I DO!) I have been dreaming of travel my entire life...always knowing that I would never be able go anywhere alone because of my extreme anxiety :'(!!!
Now, even though physical limitations cause me to find alternate and faster means of travel......I am secure enough within myself to know that I can.
I was brought up knowing that idleness is the invitation for laziness! Translated...do not sit, standstill or heavens to mercy do not at anytime relax! :o
And yet when I joined Dorothy and the girls I have learned do much about myself and that relaxing does not = laziness!
I have changed. I hope to change more (oh yes I do), was even considering getting my hair cut short!!!
Don't force the changes in your life...but embrace them as they come along, at least try them..one never knows!
Read the Blogs. Have a wonderful day!
Love & Blessings,
Val

Hi Dorothy I want to hug you so much for, first of all showing me what a hug is for and how good it feels. Secondly for your beautiful site. The time that it has taken you and the special care and passion that you use to bring us women this site is amazing. I have met very few women in the world that actually care to the extent that you do. To be there for me every minute of the day, and to write back to me everytime I write something silly to you, is a true friend. I could not have changed my life without you and your site members. The women that your site has attracted as members are a true Godsend to me. I love you all. Hugs from Shelby

Hi again. It's been quite some time since we have posted I think. We still visit most days. We were talking about this latest blog for most of the mid shift and have all come to the same conlusion, which never happens around here. That is why I am writing now. It takes a lot to get all of us here to agree on anything. I hope it's OK to take a quote from your page. Your entire article and when you wrote about one of your members, MJ is right on track. "It takes courage, determination, motivation, and a will to live life better, but it is so worth it! Taking action to change your life is scary, but the change can be wonderful! You have to take action, period! That's the key." We have printed the whole article a few times and it is hanging all over the place. We have taken the part that I quoted above and have posted it in most of the patient's rooms that have over eating problems and disorders. For most of the patients that have already read the quote, they just stand there for a couple of minutes and think. Then it sinks in and they realize that THEY are the one that has to do the work, not just us and the doctors. It's a true eye opener for most of them. We have your website listed at the bottom of the paper also to let them know that we didnt make this up, a proffesional did. I just wanted to let you know that you are still making a hit here at the clinic and you are right on target with your website and articles! Oh, one other thing before I get back to work...You might be interested to know that a few of the doctors now have some of the over-eaters helping the under-eaters here at the clinic. Most of us nurses agree that they got the idea from your website, "women helping women"! Again, thank you.

This is Peggy and I want you all to know that as my self esteem has grown , and so have I. I am bi-polar 1 and taking 5 different medications for it now. Self esteem is very important . It feels good to feel good about being me, myself and I.

When I feel inadequate, subhuman and even doormattish(is that a word?) and I need some loving care I come into the bistro and someone is almost always there. I can count on one of the wonderful women here to give me a hug, say sorry you feel bad.....and now "knock it off"! They never fail to remind me how much I have to offer and how much damage one tiny negative thought can do to a person. They never fail to make me feel that I am more than I ever thought I was. And how much I can be! I love you all, Valerie

I've recently read your article "Why Do Pretty Girls CRY?". I just loved that piece and it led me to your other articles. I just wanted to say that I love your writing and thanks for writing from an honest yet emotional point. My very recent girlfriend was just like the gals you describe in "Why Do Pretty Girls CRY" and nothing I said worked I guess. So even though we broke up I sent her the url to your article. Your writing is up there with Francois Truffaut's movies, imo. So thank you for sharing your thoughts they're inspiring to say the least.

Hi to all You Beautiful Ladies .
Well done! kisses and huggies to you all.
Love Megan

The "So what" self esteem advice article was hilarious. I totally agree with it! Sometimes, when I go out with a guy (im single-party time!) and he doesn't call me again I get upset and start thinking its me. I realize that no its not me, and SO WHAT!!!!!!!!There are plenty of men, who make enough money to afford me. I loved the article.. Thank u! :)
