Just a quick note on this book before you read the review: I came across this wonderful book by way of a dear friend that I work with in another job. Ken is a friend at heart, is a wonderful painter, and has been a delight to know. His mother Delorse, is one of the authors of the book. This courageous woman still lives in the Cades Cove area and is currently being treated for breast cancer.

This is one of the most comprehensive books of historic photos ever compiled on Cades Cove, located in the Great Smoky Mountains, Tn. It includes hundreds of quality photographs on people, homes, schools, barns, and churches in the cove, many of them never before published. Numerous detailed maps show the locations of homes, cemeteries, stores, and even stills! It took these two women over six years of hiking to each house in the Cades Cove area to compile the information and photos in this book. Sisters, Delorse and Judy still reside in the Cades Cove area.
